THE VITAL CONVERSATION
More than 40 years ago, in the late 1900’s, many elders of the Naturopathic Medical field started talking about the potential loss of vitalism within the profession. They had become concerned that too much allopathy was creeping into the teachings and practice of Naturopathic Medicine. And with two paradigms so diametrically opposed to one another, the concern was valid.
They spent years brainstorming how to preserve the philosopy, teaching, and practice of vitalistic naturopathic medicine. In 2001, the first “Vital” Gathering was held at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and another in 2002 and in 2012. It was in 2012 that the idea of the Naturopathic Medicine Institute was launched.
The first offering of the NMI was the Vital Conversation launched in 2016. This was a conference call during which Dr. James Sensenig and other NDs discussed philosophy and the application of the philosophy in practice. The VC started with a few doctors and rapidly grew to hundreds of Naturopathic Doctors and students. This also led to annual Vital Gatherings which continue to this day.

All of the VC listed on this page are audio recordings but in 2020 we switched to video format which is what you will find in your associate panel once you join.
